Another great save!

Anonymous 27 September 2017

Last week we heard the great news that Oakfield Playing Field in Redbridge is no longer under threat of development and will continue to provide a play to play sport for generations to come!

We were first made aware of this ground in 2008 by one of our close supporters Cllr Joyce Ryan who asked us to help. We supported the Save Oakfield Society campaign bringing together organisations such as the FA, ECB, Sport England, London Sport, CPRE and chairing stakeholder meetings. We also submitted evidence to the Council and Planning Inspector opposing the development of the playing field. Plans to build housing on this popular ground will no longer go ahead after the Planning Inspector ruled against the Council’s proposal last week.

The Save Oakfield Society campaign was brilliantly organised with petitions, lobbying and a high media profile and is a great example of how local communities can pull together to protect green spaces!

As a charity, the only way we are able to continue offering free advice and support to organisations like Save Oakfield Society is through the generosity of our supporters.  Thank you to everyone who has supported LPFF in the past ensuring future generations will have places to play sport forever.
