The London Playing Fields Foundation is the capital’s leading body for the protection, provision and promotion of playing fields in London.
London has 16% of the country’s population but only 8% of its playing field stock. There are approximately 1,500 playing fields in London owned by a range of organisations such as local authorities, schools, charities and commercial companies. There is enormous pressure to build new homes and schools on open space and one of our key roles is to provide a first port of call when community fields come under threat of development.
Since 1890 we have accumulated significant knowledge and experience of operating playing fields and we are committed to using our expertise to support others who share our passion for getting more people to play sport on a regular basis.
