Happy 1st Birthday to Walthamstow Parkrun

Anonymous 29 January 2014

Playing fields are more than just parcels of green space, they are places where lives can be improved, so we were excited to hear that a running club recently celebrated its first anniversay on Saturday 25th January at the Peter May Sports Centre.

Walthamstow Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run staffed entirely by volunteers and open to anyone. It runs at the Peter May Sports Centre every Saturday morning at 9am. Thier youngest runner is 6 years old and they regularly get over 50 runners a week with nearly 100 at their recent anniversary run. This is a great example of local residents using a playing field to stay active in a non traditional way.
