LPFF Gala Dinner raises 150k

Anonymous 04 December 2014

We would like to thank everyone who attended the LPFF Gala Dinner on Thursday 20th November and helped us raise £150,000 - our best total yet. This fantastic amount of money will help us in our mission to provide a place to play sport forever.

The evening, which was attended by the LPFF's Chairman Lord Cadogan, President Kate Hoey MP and Vice Presidents John Hollins, Hope Powell and Peter Nathan, kicked off with a champagne reception in the Savoy's beautiful River Room. Guests then made their way into the stunning Lancaster Ballroom where they were treated to a three course meal and entertainment by Martin Bayfield who was the evening's MC. Clare Balding was our guest of honour and spoke passionately about women and girls' sport and the role that playing fields can play in increasing female participation. Chief Executive Alex Welsh explained to the 360 guests that Hope Powell’s glittering career of 66 England caps and 15 year’s as the National Manager might never have happened without her early experiences of kicking a ball around Ladywell Park in South London in the mid 1970’s.  TV's favourite auctioneer Charlie Ross presided over the main auction which included lots such as a trip to visit the Red Arrows and a celebrity chef to cook for your dinner party. We also held a pledge to raise money for our girls' sports project Active Angels.

Thank you to everyone involved - those who attended, donated prizes or supported in other ways. We look forward to seeing you all again on Thursday 12th November 2015!
