Thirteen teams from across the Foundation's playing fields took part in a special five-a-side tournament to commemorate the charity's 125th Anniversary on Saturday 6th June at Douglas Eyre Sports Centre.

Clubs such as Westhamians FC, Old Parmiterians FC and Egbertians FC were represented and after the hard-fought group games and semi-finals, Westhamians B squad defeated Old Parmiterians A 2-0 in the Final. Third Place went to Old Parmiterians B who beat Old Foresters on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the play-off. The Vets play-off saw Old Parmiterians beat Westhamians 3-1 to complete a footballing Super Saturday.

LPFF Chief Executive Alex Welsh said: “The London Playing Fields Foundation is proud of its history of supporting grassroots sport in the borough and we were delighted that so many local clubs were able to join us for these celebratory events. The main lesson that the last 125 years has taught us is that once lost, a playing field is lost forever and that is why it is so important that the local community makes full use of them.”

Local youth teams were also included in the anniversary events with LOASS delivering a tournament the previous weekend which was won by Leyton United.
