Peter May Sports Centre to get new 3G pitch

Anonymous 08 September 2015

On 30th July we received the great news that we have been awarded £368,000 by the Premier League and FA Facilities Fund to install a state-of-the-art 3G pitch at Peter May Sports Centre. With additional funding from the London Marathon Charitable Trust and our sinking fund, the artificial pitch at Peter May Sports Centre, Walthamstow will be replaced with a surface that provides opportunities to play mini soccer, 9 v 9 and 11 v 11 football. The pitch which is heavily used by local schools and clubs and was where Harry Kane honed his skills as a youngster will play a key role in helping to drive up numbers playing the game at grassroots.

Alex Welsh, Chief Executive said: “Playing fields are where sport starts and for the gifted few they are where careers start so investment in facilities like this will help produce the next generation of players. We are really grateful for the continuing support of the Football Foundation and the London Marathon Charitable Trust both of whom are true champions of grassroots sport.”
