More than just open space, London’s playing fields are places where people’s lives are improved through sport and physical activity. And for the gifted few, like England footballer Harry Kane who started out at Peter May Sports Centre in Walthamstow, they are where careers begin.

Our Charter for Playing Fields in London calls on the Greater London Authority, local authorities and sporting bodies to adopt 12-point call to action that will provide long-term protection for these precious spaces. It advocates for a more strategic approach to protecting playing fields from local and central government.
